Scientists hunt for gum disease clues in mouth bacteria
NCT ID NCT07579338
First seen May 17, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study compares 148 adults (over 30) with and without gum disease to measure levels of two bacteria, E. saphenum and P. gingivalis, in dental plaque. Researchers will collect biofilm samples and use advanced lab tests to see if these bacteria are more common in diseased gums. The goal is to better understand what causes gum disease, not to test a treatment.
