New scan could catch hidden prostate cancers missed by MRI

NCT ID NCT07258056

First seen Dec 10, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tests whether a special scan (PSMA PET/MRI) can better find aggressive prostate cancer in men whose standard MRI was negative but who still have a high suspicion of cancer. About 100 men will get both the new scan-guided biopsies and standard biopsies to compare detection rates. The goal is to see if the new method can safely avoid unnecessary biopsies while catching more dangerous cancers.
