New combo therapy targets worst cases of painful gout

NCT ID NCT04762498

Summary

This study tested whether giving KRYSTEXXA (pegloticase) infusions every 4 weeks along with weekly methotrexate pills could better control severe gout in people who don't respond to standard treatments. Researchers followed 50 adults with chronic, uncontrolled gout for up to a year to see if this combination could safely and effectively lower uric acid levels long-term. The goal was to find the right dose for future studies.
