New blood marker may improve diabetes control

NCT ID NCT05227677

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looked at whether using a blood test called glycated albumin (GA) to guide diabetes treatment helps people with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes achieve better blood sugar control. About 200 adults in China were split into two groups: one where doctors used GA levels to adjust medication, and another where doctors followed standard guidelines without knowing GA levels. The goal was to see if the GA-guided group had more people reaching a healthy HbA1c target after 12 weeks.
