Scientists scan brains to see how glucagon changes sugar use
NCT ID NCT06877208
First seen May 12, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This pilot study looks at how the hormone glucagon changes the way the brain uses sugar (glucose) in healthy people aged 55 to 70. Twelve participants will receive infusions of glucagon, glucose, or saline on three separate days, and a special PET/CT scan will measure brain sugar use. The goal is to understand glucagon's role in brain energy, not to treat any disease.
