Surgery safety check: does standard fasting work for ozempic patients?
NCT ID NCT07251803
Summary
This study aims to find out if people taking GLP-1 medications (like Ozempic or Mounjaro) have the same risk of having food or liquid left in their stomach before surgery when they follow the standard 8-hour fast, compared to a stricter 24-hour liquid-only diet. Researchers will enroll 150 adults scheduled for surgery or a colonoscopy. They will use an ultrasound to measure stomach contents right before the procedure to see which fasting method is safer.
