New combo targets hard-to-treat stomach tumors before surgery

Summary
This early-phase study tests whether adding fampridine to the standard drug imatinib is safe and effective for people with a specific type of gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) that has a KIT gene mutation. About 18 participants will take the drugs for at least 2 months before their tumor is surgically removed. The main goal is to find the safest dose of fampridine that can be given with imatinib and to see if the combination shrinks the tumor.
