Timing of tooth gap closure may impact gum clefts, new study investigates

NCT ID NCT07210762

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study looks at 19 orthodontic patients who need their first premolars removed. Researchers want to see if starting to close the gap right after extraction or waiting a while affects the chance of developing a gum cleft. Each patient's mouth is split into two sides, one for early closure and one for delayed closure. The goal is to learn the best time to start closing gaps to keep gums healthy.
