Cancer genes under the microscope: study seeks to unlock personalized treatments

NCT ID NCT01775072

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 19, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study looks at the genes in cancer tumors to find mutations that might be important for how the cancer grows. Researchers will use leftover tissue from surgeries or biopsies, along with a blood or saliva sample, to compare cancer genes to normal genes. The goal is to understand which genetic changes could help guide treatment choices and how tumors change over time.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this research could help doctors match cancer patients with more effective treatments based on their tumor's genetic profile.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It may not directly benefit participants, and findings may not lead to immediate changes in care.

Conditions

The condition(s) this trial relates to.

cancer hematopoietic and lymphoid system neoplasm
