Popular weight-loss drug may leave stomach full despite fasting, study warns

NCT ID NCT07398222

First seen Feb 10, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study uses ultrasound to check if people taking tirzepatide (a weight-loss and diabetes drug) still have food or liquid in their stomach after the recommended fasting period. A full stomach during anesthesia can lead to serious complications. The study compares 30 adults who take tirzepatide with those who do not, all after fasting, to see how often a full stomach occurs.
