Can a pill shield vulnerable transplant patients from deadly fungus?

NCT ID NCT04725942

Summary

This study aimed to see if the drug posaconazole, given as a tablet, is safe and effective at preventing serious fungal infections in the lungs of patients who have received a stem cell transplant. Researchers observed 360 transplant patients in China who took the drug for about 3 months after their procedure. They checked drug levels in the blood and tracked whether patients developed infections to understand how well the prevention worked.
