Eye injection shows promise against fungal ulcers

NCT ID NCT02731638

First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tested whether adding an antifungal injection (voriconazole) directly into the cornea improves treatment for fungal eye ulcers compared to standard antifungal drops alone. 70 adults with moderate to severe fungal corneal ulcers were randomly assigned to receive either the injection plus drops or drops only. The main goal was to see if the injection helped clear the fungus faster by checking for infection after 3 days.
