Corneal polishing study seeks to improve cell therapy for fuchs dystrophy
NCT ID NCT07539012
First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study looks at whether polishing the inner layer of the cornea (Descemet membrane) helps remove tiny bumps called guttae in people with Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy. Twenty patients scheduled for corneal transplant will have half their cornea polished and the other half left untreated. Researchers will compare guttae counts and heights between the two halves to see if polishing improves cell adhesion for future cell-based therapies.
