Doctors test frostbite rescue drug on mount everest

NCT ID NCT07450469

Summary

This study wants to see if a medicine called iloprost can be given safely to treat severe frostbite right at high-altitude climbing sites like Everest Basecamp. Researchers will give the drug to up to 10 adult climbers with serious frostbite within 72 hours of warming up. The main goal is to check if this is practical in such a remote place and if it helps save more fingers and toes from needing amputation.
