Freeze the pain: One-Time treatment could ease broken ribs for months
NCT ID NCT06069154
Summary
This study is testing a single, 5-minute procedure that freezes nerves near broken ribs to see if it can provide pain relief for up to two months. The goal is to offer a non-addictive alternative to opioid painkillers, which can have side effects and risks. Researchers will compare this freezing technique to standard pain blocks in 120 adults with rib fractures to measure pain levels, opioid use, and recovery.
