New trial aims to reduce urinary side effects in prostate cancer radiation

NCT ID NCT07300566

First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tests whether a more targeted (focal) radiation boost to the main tumor, combined with standard external beam radiation, can better preserve urinary quality of life compared to treating the entire prostate gland. The trial enrolls 58 men with intermediate- or high-risk prostate cancer who have a visible tumor on MRI. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two radiation approaches, and their urinary, bowel, and sexual function will be tracked for two years.
