NCT ID NCT07149441
First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 33 times
Summary
This study looked at whether taking capsules containing healthy donor bacteria (fecal microbiota transplant) can help people with inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's or ulcerative colitis). 94 adults who had not gotten better with standard biologic therapy were split into two groups: one received biologic therapy alone, the other added the bacterial capsules for 8 weeks. Researchers tracked symptom scores and gut health for a year to see if the capsules improved remission rates and safely reshaped the gut microbiome.
