Flu vaccine injected into skin cancer: could it rally immune cells?

NCT ID NCT06664151

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study is for people with a type of skin cancer called cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma who are waiting to have surgery to remove the tumor. Researchers want to see if injecting the seasonal flu vaccine directly into the tumor can attract more immune cells to fight the cancer. The goal is to understand how the immune system responds, not to treat the cancer directly. About 25 participants will receive one injection of the flu shot into their tumor before their scheduled surgery.
