Researchers track flu virus to shorten hospital isolation

NCT ID NCT04515446

Summary

This study aims to understand how long the flu virus remains detectable in the nose and throat of hospitalized adults who are being treated with the antiviral drug oseltamivir (Tamiflu). By tracking the virus over time in 18 patients, researchers hope to gather evidence that could help hospitals safely shorten the recommended isolation period for these patients. This could free up valuable hospital rooms, especially during severe flu seasons.
