Community helpers vs. pamphlets: which works better for health?

NCT ID NCT06829485

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study looks at whether community health workers (CHWs) can help people deal with non-medical problems like food insecurity or trouble getting healthcare. About 900 adults in Florida will either work with a CHW for six months or just receive educational materials. The goal is to see if the CHW approach improves well-being more than self-help materials.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Community health workers (CHW) and educational materials

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that community health workers are a better way to connect people with resources for non-medical health needs.

What could go wrong

This is an early-stage study with 900 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. It tests a behavioral intervention, not a drug, so the impact may be modest.

As listed by the trial registrant

The condition terms exactly as the trial's registrant entered them.
