Scientists test 'See-Through' belly monitor for unborn babies
NCT ID NCT04876846
Summary
This study tested a new, non-invasive device that aims to measure an unborn baby's oxygen levels through the mother's abdomen, similar to a pulse oximeter used on adults. Researchers placed the device on the bellies of 9 healthy pregnant volunteers in their final weeks of pregnancy to see if it could reliably detect the baby's signal. The goal is to develop better tools to monitor babies for oxygen problems during pregnancy without any needles or invasive procedures.
