Could a common cholesterol pill fight cervical cancer?

NCT ID NCT06191133

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This early study tests whether fenofibrate, a drug normally used for high cholesterol, can help treat HPV-related cervical cancer and precancer. Researchers believe it may restore a key protein that stops tumors from growing. About 24 adults with high-grade cervical dysplasia or cervical cancer will take fenofibrate before their planned surgery, and researchers will check tissue samples for changes.
