First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study tested whether a new type of PET scan (FAPI-PET/CT) can accurately tell if rectal cancer has been completely eliminated by chemoradiotherapy. Researchers enrolled 52 patients with a specific type of rectal cancer (MSS) to compare scan results with actual tissue samples after surgery. The goal is to find a reliable, non-invasive way to identify patients who might safely avoid surgery and keep their organs.
