First seen Jan 31, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tests the Family Bridge Program, which uses a trained guide to help low-income families navigate the hospital, communicate with doctors, and prepare for going home. About 728 families with children in the hospital will be randomly assigned to get the program or usual care. The goal is to see if the program improves parents' ability to navigate the healthcare system and eases the transition from hospital to home.

What this could lead to

If effective, this program could provide a scalable model to improve hospital experiences and outcomes for low-income families, reducing healthcare disparities.
