Shocking falls away: new Hip-Strengthening tech could keep veterans on their feet

NCT ID NCT04969094

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding a gentle electrical stimulation (NMES) to hip-strengthening exercises can improve balance and reduce falls in older veterans at high risk. About 81 veterans aged 55+ will receive the stimulation during resistance training. The goal is to see if this combo works better than exercise alone to prevent dangerous falls.
