Zapping hips to stop falls: new study aims to keep veterans upright
NCT ID NCT04969094
Summary
This study is testing if a common physical therapy tool—electrical muscle stimulation—can help prevent dangerous falls in older veterans. Researchers are adding the stimulation to a standard balance and strength training program to see if it strengthens weak hip muscles better than exercise alone. The goal is to improve balance and mobility to reduce the risk of falls for veterans aged 55 and older who are at high risk.
