New study seeks to uncover why some wounds open after pilonidal surgery

NCT ID NCT07370714

First seen Jan 27, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study watches 250 adults who are having routine surgery for pilonidal sinus, a small hole or tunnel near the tailbone. Researchers want to see if the wound's distance from the anus, the stage of the disease, or the type of surgery used affects whether the wound reopens after surgery. Participants are followed after their operation to track healing and identify risk factors.
