Summary
This study checks if a new measurement called the Volume-Velocity Index (VVI) can accurately predict when patients on mechanical ventilators are ready to breathe without help. Researchers will measure diaphragm movement and breathing patterns in 100 adults during different ventilator settings. The goal is to reduce failed breathing trials and complications from prolonged ventilation.
