First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests a genetically modified pig kidney (called the 10 GE Xenokidney) in 50 adults with end-stage kidney disease who cannot get a human kidney transplant or are unlikely to receive one in time. Participants will receive the pig kidney and be followed for at least 24 weeks to see how well it works and if it is safe, with lifelong monitoring for infections. The goal is to provide a new treatment option for people who have few alternatives.
