Exercise may repair blood vessels in older veterans at diabetes risk
NCT ID NCT01176578
First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 32 times
Summary
This study looks at how exercise affects special cells that help repair blood vessels in older veterans who have higher-than-normal blood sugar. Researchers want to see if aerobic exercise can improve the number and function of these repair cells, which may lead to better blood flow and lower diabetes risk. The study involves 70 veterans aged 50-80 who do not smoke and have no serious heart or kidney disease.
