First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a single 20-minute aerobic exercise session could help women with PTSD symptoms better regulate their emotions and improve cognitive control. 67 adult women with significant PTSD symptoms were randomly assigned to either exercise or quiet sitting. Researchers measured brain activity and self-reported emotional responses before and after the session. The goal was to see if even one bout of exercise could provide immediate benefits for emotional and cognitive function.
