What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Everolimus (a targeted cancer drug that blocks a protein called mTOR to slow abnormal blood vessel growth)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a new treatment option for people with rare, treatment-resistant vascular malformations and tumors.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase, single-center trial with no control group, so results may not apply broadly. Everolimus can cause side effects like mouth sores, infections, and metabolic changes.
