Could a cancer drug help with autism-like social challenges?
NCT ID NCT07218575
Summary
This study is testing whether everolimus, an existing FDA-approved medication, can safely improve social abilities in people with PTEN Hamartoma Tumor Syndrome (PHTS). About 60 children and adults with PHTS who experience social difficulties will take either everolimus or a placebo pill for 6 months, followed by 6 months where everyone receives the drug. Researchers will measure changes in social skills through questionnaires and clinical assessments over one year.
