New hope for stubborn high blood pressure: drug targets vessel function

NCT ID NCT04388124

First seen Mar 06, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study tests whether a drug that blocks endothelin-1 receptors can improve blood vessel function and lower blood pressure in people with resistant hypertension (high blood pressure that doesn't respond to standard treatments). About 24 adults aged 30-80 will take the drug for 8 weeks. The goal is to see if it helps blood vessels work better and is safe for the kidneys.
