Pre-Surgery education boosts recovery in colorectal cancer patients

NCT ID NCT07324369

First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looked at whether teaching patients about Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) before their operation helps them recover better. 88 adults with colorectal cancer were split into two groups: one got a special education session with a booklet, the other got standard care. The main goal was to see if the education improved recovery scores on the first day after surgery, and also if it shortened hospital stays or reduced complications.
