Researchers test common anesthesia trick to make abdominal surgery safer
NCT ID NCT04959123
Summary
This study examined whether adding a small amount of epinephrine (adrenaline) to a common abdominal nerve block makes the procedure safer. Researchers compared how much of the numbing medication entered patients' bloodstreams when epinephrine was added versus when it wasn't. The goal was to see if this common practice actually reduces the risk of medication side effects for people having laparoscopic bowel surgery.
