Gut bacteria vaccine takes on colorectal cancer remnants

NCT ID NCT05350501

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tested a new vaccine (EO2040) made from gut bacteria, combined with the immunotherapy drug nivolumab, in people with colorectal cancer who had tiny amounts of cancer DNA left in their blood after standard treatment. The goal was to see if the combination could clear these cancer remnants and prevent the cancer from coming back. The trial was terminated early after enrolling only one participant, so no conclusions can be drawn.
