New hope for bile duct cancer: immunotherapy plus chemotherapy in phase 2 trial
NCT ID NCT04910386
First seen Apr 13, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding the immunotherapy drug envafolimab to standard chemotherapy (gemcitabine plus cisplatin) helps people with advanced bile duct or gallbladder cancer live longer without their cancer growing. About 126 adults who have not had prior treatment for advanced disease will be randomly assigned to receive either the combo or chemo alone. The goal is to see if the new combination improves outcomes, though this is not a cure and ongoing management is expected.
