Heat therapy before stenting may extend bile duct patency in cancer patients
NCT ID NCT05546372
First seen May 30, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether using heat (radiofrequency ablation) to destroy cancer tissue inside the bile duct before placing a metal stent can keep the duct open longer than placing a stent alone. It involves 122 adults with inoperable bile duct cancer. The main goal is to see how long it takes for the bile duct to become blocked again.
