Massage machine may speed recovery after lipedema surgery

NCT ID NCT07618065

First seen Jun 01, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

Lipedema is a painful fat condition in women's legs. Liposuction can help, but recovery often involves swelling and pain. This study tested whether adding Endermologie—a gentle suction and rolling massage—to standard physiotherapy improves recovery. 88 women took part, comparing those who got only physiotherapy with those who also got Endermologie.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Endermologie (mechanical massage device)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could give women with lipedema a better, faster recovery after liposuction, with less swelling and pain.

What could go wrong

This is a small, completed study with 88 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Endermologie may not provide extra benefit over standard physiotherapy.
