New schizophrenia drug shows promise in reducing psychotic episodes

Summary
This study tested whether a new medication called Emraclidine could help reduce symptoms in people experiencing an acute worsening of schizophrenia. 391 adults with schizophrenia were randomly assigned to receive either the medication or a placebo for 6 weeks while staying in a hospital. Researchers measured changes in overall schizophrenia symptoms and monitored for side effects to see if the treatment was effective and safe.
