Summary
This small pilot study is testing whether empagliflozin, a medication typically used for type 2 diabetes, might help reduce symptoms of depression. Researchers think the drug might help the brain by producing ketones, an alternative energy source. The study will involve 16 adults with moderate to severe depression to see if their symptoms improve while taking the medication.
