Smart vest zaps and shakes mucus away in lung disease trial

NCT ID NCT07175012

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tested a new wearable vest that combines chest vibrations with mild electrical stimulation to help people with chronic lung diseases like COPD, cystic fibrosis, and bronchiectasis cough up mucus more easily. 21 adults used both the new vest and a standard vibrating vest in a crossover design. The main goals were to measure how much mucus was cleared and how comfortable the vest felt.
