Can acupuncture boost immunity against shingles?

NCT ID NCT06643247

First seen Feb 03, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study looks at how electroacupuncture (a type of acupuncture with mild electric pulses) changes immune cells in people with shingles. Researchers will compare patients who get standard medication alone versus medication plus electroacupuncture. The goal is to understand if electroacupuncture helps the immune system fight the virus and reduce pain. Only 8 people will take part, so this is a small, early-stage exploration.
