New surgery aims to unlock bent elbows in kids with cerebral palsy
NCT ID NCT07601165
First seen May 24, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026
Summary
This study will test a surgery called distal soft tissue release in 28 children aged 6 to 16 with spastic cerebral palsy whose elbows are stuck in a bent position. The surgery loosens tight muscles so the arm can straighten, which may help with daily tasks like washing the face or using a walker. Researchers will measure changes in arm function, movement, and quality of life after the procedure.
