Tapping away the fear: EFT shows promise for rare cancer patients

NCT ID NCT00737399

First seen Apr 28, 2026 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This early-phase study looks at whether a self-help technique called Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) can reduce anxiety, depression, pain, and trouble sleeping in people with cholangiocarcinoma, a rare bile duct cancer. About 14 participants will learn EFT through phone or online group coaching and practice it on their own. The study measures their symptoms before coaching, after four and eight weeks, and again at one month, three months, and one year to see if symptoms improve.
