Major trial tests new drug to fight dangerous liver scarring

NCT ID NCT07221188

Summary

This large, late-stage study aims to see if a new drug called efimosfermin alfa is safe and can help people with a type of fatty liver disease that causes scarring (MASH). About 1,250 adults with moderate liver scarring will receive either the drug or a placebo to compare results. The main goal is to check for side effects, while also measuring changes in liver fat, stiffness, and blood markers to see if the drug improves the condition.
