Robotic prostate surgery may raise brain pressure, new study warns

NCT ID NCT07491198

First seen Mar 26, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study looks at how being tilted head-down and having gas pumped into the belly during robotic prostate cancer surgery affects pressure inside the head. Researchers will measure the optic nerve sheath (a part of the eye) using ultrasound, which is a safe way to check for brain pressure changes. The goal is to better understand the body's response to this surgical setup. About 50 adults having robotic or open prostate surgery will take part.
