First seen Apr 01, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tested a computer system that gives emergency room doctors a risk score showing which patients might have unmet social needs, like trouble finding food or housing. Researchers looked at whether the alert led to more screening and referrals for help. Over 518,000 adults took part across multiple ERs. The goal was to see if the tool improves care and reduces repeat ER visits.
