First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tests a new gel (ECM hydrogel) to treat anal fistulas—abnormal tunnels that form between the anal canal and skin. Ten adults with a single high fistula will receive the gel to close the external openings and reduce symptoms like leakage. The goal is to see if the gel is safe and helps heal the fistula without needing long-term medication.
